How to Maintain Your Portfolio at Google Docs

Ø        In conjunction with blogging, you are required to maintain and complete your portfolio at Google Docs; namely, to conduct self-assessments.

Ø        The purposes of this self-assessment are to reflect on your learning in blogging and to know your preferred style in order to find out more about yourself as a language learner.

Ø        The portfolio files at Google Docs are;
File A (Weekly Record regarding Task Completion)
File B (Reflection on the learning process of Writing Entries)
File C (Reflection on the learning process of Reading and Commenting on Peers’ Blogs)
File D (Reflection on the learning process of Replying to Comments)
File E (Post assessment)
Ø        Create a link to the Google Docs on your blogs or go directly to Google Docs in order to have access to the portfolio files.
Ø        First, please update File A weekly.
Ø        Second, please update File B, C, and D regularly at least twice but three times (e.g., at the beginning, the middle, and end of this quarter) is preferable. You can re-answer all the questions. Or you can update them only when you want to modify them. Lastly, complete File E at the end of this quarter. File E will be sent out in March. You are required to submit the five FOUR files at the end of this quarter. The deadline will be announced later.

Ø        Make sure that you reflect on and assess your learning in blogs frequently and update the files regularly. Please answer the portfolio questions with honesty. DO NOT exaggerate about what you did. Please complete this self-assessment in order to help you learn Japanese better.

Ø        All the files will be shared with you, Yamauchi sensei, and Hashimoto sensei. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Yamauchi sensei or Hashimoto sensei.

How to Maintain File A (Weekly Reflection)
1.      Open the file, and you will see a chart. This file functions similarly to an Excel file. Please record and update the answers every week.

How to Maintain File B, C, and D (Reflection on the Learning Process)
1.        Open each file, and you will see the chart but IGNORE it and click “Form” on the menu bar, and select “Go to live form. ” Then, you will be able to answer the questions. After filling it out, click the submit button at the bottom of the page.
2.        You can update the answers anytime you want to change them or add to them. But always use the “Go to live form” function. DO NOT use the chart. In the “Go to live form,” you can just answer the questions you would like to change or add. You can leave the rest of the answers blank. Thus, you do not have to fill out all of the other answers that you are not changing.

Please DO NOT EDIT the chart or delete the answers that you previously made. Teachers will observe how often you will be reflecting on your learning in blogs and updating their reflective comments over the quarter and if there is any progression in your reflection.
